Do The Labels Match?

For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth. Proving what is acceptableunto the Lord. Eph. 5:9-10 The fruit a plant produces identifies the plant. A friend bought seed that was labeled broccoli. She thought she was growing broccoli but although the seed package stated that it contained broccoli seed, the plant did not produce broccoli, but Russian cabbage. So it is with spiritual things. We may label ourselves a child of God, but the fruit of our life will be the proof. If we are born of God‘s spirit, we will be Godlike, a godly person and proving what is acceptable with God. The meaning of the Greek word translated acceptable is..fully agreeable, wellpleasing..to the Lord. The apostle Paul tells us in. Ro. 12:2 how we can do this, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind, that ye may PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”. Yes, when we become changed from that old man and transformed into that new man in Christ, we will produce the fruit of being made a new creature. How? Jn. 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he POWER to become the sons of God. He gives us power to say NO to sin and Satan and YES to God and righteousness. Our label says that we are a child of God, and our fruit will bear out that we are as labeled.
